BPC Banking Technologies is one of the world’s leading providers of electronic payment processing solutions for the global financial industry. Founded in 1995, BPC has more than 280 clients in over 90 countries on five continents, including several of the world’s top 100 banks.

BPC is looking for an experienced translation specialist and technical writer who can translate documentation between English and Russian (both directions; manage the outsourcing of translation to other languages by a translation agency; as well as write and edit user assistance and technical documentation in English and Russian. The ability also to translate into a major language other than English and Russian would be an advantage.

The position will be located in Russia and the successful applicant will report to a remote manager and will work with development teams primarily based in Russia.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. The degree may be in the humanities (English or translation studies would be advantages) or the sciences (computer science or information technology majors would be advantages).
  • At least three years’ experience working in translating and writing technical documentation in an IT company.
  • Excellent written communication skills in both English and Russian.
  • Experience translating between English and Russian (both directions).
  • Expertise in using computer-aided translation (CAT) tools, ideally MemoQ.
  • Experience editing (structural and copy editing) technical documentation.
The following are advantageous:
  • Additional languages (ideally Spanish).
  • Experience translating XML files and ability to deal with other more popular formats such as DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and so on.
  • Experience developing and managing filters, segmentation rules, translation memories and glossaries.
  • Experience outsourcing translation projects to language service providers (LSPs).
  • Experience in developing topic-based user assistance.
  • Experience developing user assistance within a user-focused, task-oriented paradigm (employing user scenarios, role-based analysis, task analysis, etc.).
  • Experience using help authoring tools such as Help & Manual, Oxygen XML Author (for DITA), or MadCap Flare.
  • Experience in working in a multinational company with remote colleagues and subject matter experts.
  • Experience developing documentation for the EFT (electronic funds transfer) or banking domains.
Applicants should have the following qualities:
  • Be detail-oriented, particularly in editing.
  • Be able to work alone in a self-managed fashion, or collaborate closely with team members in developing technical documentation/ user assistance.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with co-located and remote subject matter experts such as business analysts, architects, developers, and project managers.
  • Be able to estimate effort and be disciplined in delivering materials to deadlines.
  • Be able to accurately track effort expended on projects.

Applicants will be expected to provide examples of technical documentation for which they have been primarily responsible.
